Chiara is a young hikikomori. She lives secluded in her room, in her parents’ house. During the day she hides away, but at night, when she knows she won’t risk meeting anyone, she slips out quietly: she takes something to eat and then returns to her refuge. There she reads, draws, and spends her time immersed in her thoughts. She does not neglect herself: she takes care of her body, she bathes, she wears perfume. Deep down she knows that, if she wished, she could go out and live like everyone else. She lacks nothing… and yet she remains there, suspended between desire and fear.
